During the trimester I worked on two cross discipline collaborations and one general collaboration. Communication for finding these collabs was easier than my last trimester as I found the two cross discipline by week 8 rather than week 11 like previous attempts ^^;

Turtle love story?

The first was a film student who posted a request on some art and possible storyboards. Contact with them was through messenger and they where clear when explaining what it was they wanted. Concept art of a turtle and later a plastic bag.

Below is a sheet of sketches I sent to the film student, asking them which they preferred for the style they where going for. As I was still unsure on the scope of this project and the degree of realistic/stylised that they wanted. Feedback they gave me was helpful in the clean up and re render of each concept. It was the story board that caused the most confusion and was easily solved through communication. as they sent me a few dot points of a generalised story board for the introduction sequence. what i learnt from this project was the different language between an animation and film student. As well as asking for clarified feedback on what they liked about the pieces rather than "it looks good". I also learnt that i can expand my territory from strictly humans after all! it takes some more time and heavier use of reference but i feel comfortable drawing animals.

Metallic outer space world

this project was another challenge but a good one! As the audio student posted to the face book group that they were after cover art for their album. I quickly contacted them and shared some of my previous work as i wasn't sure if they where looking for strictly Environment artists. Luckily they liked my work and began to discuss what it was that they where looking for.

They wanted outer space. But to still have the metallic reflection. I looked around and ended up creating a sort of mood board above. this was useful in trying to create the world they where looking for. Things that this project taught me was sorting files during each update. I ended up with four 'Bubble' files and three 'base worlds' solutions to this was adding in the date in which the file was saved. This way i could find the stuff that was the most recent :) I didn't learn much on audio students workflow but have their contact details as well as their offered aid on any future projects.

When posting the finished work i asked them for feedback and got the following:

"That looks amazing! your attention to detail in regards to the image i had in mind is basically perfect. Your rendering of the bubbles and reflective lighting coexist well with the more filtered out ones in the background, it makes you feel like your looking out onto a 3D horizon"
